More and more people are buying their own tanning beds these days as a way to save a bit of money when it comes to maintaining their great tans. As tanning beds have become more affordable more and more people are beginning to see the advantages to switching to having their own bed in home. But when they buy their tanning bed they seldom realize that the tanning bed bulbs will require maintenance and to be replaced from time to time to keep your tan even and keep the tanning bed as effective as possible.
When you decide to buy a tanning bed keep in mind that not all beds and thus not all tanning bed bulbs are the same. Some are more efficient than others and require less time and electricity to produce the results you are after. Avoid buying a used tanning bed for this reason; the new beds are not only cheaper but much more efficient as well.
Each time that you use your tanning bed you should make sure to wipe your tanning bed bulbs carefully with a cloth to get all the dust off of them, ideally this should be done before you tan. Then after you are done tanning you will want to wipe the bed down again to make sure that any tanning lotion residue or sweat is cleaned off of the tanning bed. The reason for this is that tanning beds tend to collect dust and that dust can result in an uneven tan that will disappoint you.
Many people do not realize that when you have a tanning bed you should replace tanning bed bulbs before they burn out, and you should always replace them all at the same time. UV rays tend to weaken over time so that the amount of UV rays tanning bed bulbs emit after a few years is significantly less than a new bulb will emit. This is why you will often notice that tanning salons will warn clients that a tanning bed has new bulbs to ensure that they do not get burned by the new bulbs. If you only replace the ones that burn out for this reason you will have a very uneven tan.
With proper care your tanning bed and tanning bed bulbs should last you for years, and give you a great tan for the entire time you own it. A bit of maintenance is all it takes to keep your tanning bed and your tan in peak condition.
